Synopsis
Documentary about the CO2 special workshop, "Cinema Train: Let's make a One-minute movie". The participants make their own one-minute movie under these conditions: fixed camera; one cut; silent. Now, almost 120 years since the advent of motion pictures, people are still unable to film "feelings" or "relationships". How do the participants interpret films through the workshop?
In cooperation with the Graduate School of Letters, Osaka University and Han-ei Shotengai, the participants shot the films in the Toyonaka campus of Osaka University and Han-ei shopping street. "CINEMA TRAIN II" is the record of first film production by the participants, aged from 10 to 50, who made up a story, went location hunting, and shot a film in half a day.
Although the filmmaking methods have developed over these 120 years, the focus--to plan movements and to narrate a story--has never changed. How much of the idea/image in the participants' minds can be expressed in their films? This is the eternal question that all great filmmakers have asked themselves. Learning how a movie works gives you higher film literacy as a viewer.
