Kohshi Ueno

Koshi Ueno

Japan / Critic, Film Critic

Born in 1941 in Tokyo. From Chinese literature to film, music, cartoons, plays and photography as well as societal manners, Koshi Ueno has actively written film, literary, cultural and social criticism. In 1972, he was the producer of "Coup d'Etat," directed by Yoshishige Yoshida. Major publications include "Lu Xun: Chinmoku to Kotaba he no Aragai"(1974), "Eiga: Han-eiyu tachi no yume"(1983), "The Complete Films of Suzuki Seijun"(1986), "The Era of the Body: 1960s Culture"(1989), "What a good sound, eh? (Ee oto yanai ka)" (1996), "All About Film"(1998), "Sengo 60 nen"(2005) and many others. He is well-versed in Chinese literature, and has held several intensive courses about Japanese film at Korea National University of Arts, School of Film. He was a jury member for Tokyo International Film Festival, Winds of Asia-Middle East Section for three years from 2007.


Kim Tai-sik

Born in Seoul in 1959. After majoring in film at the Seoul Institute of the Arts, Kim came to study at the Japan Academy of Moving Images in 1980. He has worked as a director for TV programs and commercials in Japan, Australia and Hong Kong. He was involved in "Family Cinema"(1998) directed by Park Chul-soo, as the assistant director. His first feature film, "Driving with My Wife's Lover", was screened and highly acclaimed at a number of international film festivals including Pusan, Sundance, Rotterdam and Buenos Aires in 2006. "Tokyo Taxi" was the OAFF2010's closing film. He directed the first episode "Red Vacance" of the Korean-Japan co-production omnibus "Red Vacance Kelan Hanpan Black Wedding" to be screened at the OAFF2011 Special Screenings Section.


Adam Wong

Adam Wong (黄修平)

Hong Kong / Director

Born in Hong Kong in 1975. While studying at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Adam Wong went to the U.S. as an exchange student, and started making short films and videos. He directed the making-of for "Three," "Golden Chicken" and "1:99 shorts." "When Beckham Met Owen" is his directorial debut feature. He was nominated for Best New Director of Hong Kong Film Awards 2007 for "Magic Boy." His "Friends" will have its world premiere at the OAFF2012 Hong Kong Film Festival.
