Synopsis

When the bodies of a married couple are recovered from a reservoir, the case is given to Angela, a dedicated cop who is pregnant and struggling with a father who has Alzheimer’s. The case seems to be cracked almost immediately when the couple’s daughter Connie confesses to the killing. Angela is stunned but her emotions become foggy as she listens to Connie coolly recount in minute what lead her to kill her mother and father and how she did it. As Angela listens to the confession, she feels a connection with the confessor grow and a long-dormant secret she holds begins to wake up…

Based on true events, “Somewhere Beyond the Mist” is master documentarian Cheung King Wai’s first fictional feature film but he brings his style to this film which grimy retells the story in a documentary style, presenting a look at troubled youth and why they are pushed to shocking acts.
