AN Yi Chiao (安乙蕎) - Synopsis
It is the near future and people are addicted to an AR system named 'Nirvana' which permeates everyday life. A doctor named Sonya dons 'simulation glasses' with her family and plays a game where they hunt a mythical creature known as 'Sawalong'. However, just because they are together, doesn't mean they aren't alone as they suffer their own emotional crises and struggle to communicate with each other. If answers seem far away. Nirvana will get this family talking again as it links them in a search for comfort in the semi-real world.
RPG plays on current-gen games like "Pokémon GO" and "Monster Hunter World" but imagines them on a bigger scale. Playing on contrasts between an idealised world presented by video games and the difficulty of human relations, the kawaii graphics and cold reality form a neat back-and-forth that is believable, mordantly funny and melancholy.
