Mei and her husband Bun have been stricken with pain by the death of their three-year-old son. One way to cope is to foster children. Beginning with uncertain steps due to the emotional needs of the children, the sometimes hostile attitude of former parents, and demands of authorities, the couple gradually warm up to the role and soon win the trust and affection of each of their charges. We watch as the years slide by and a parade of children enter and leave their home, constantly aware of how the adults grow through dedication to the kids before they face up to the pain of the loss of their son. This restrained drama offers piercing emotions of tragedy and unhappiness to cut deep into audiences but this helps make its inspirational message about love and dedication even more affecting and sure to move hearts.
