Marking its 6th edition this year, the Osaka Asian Film Festival 2011 will be held in March at ABC Hall which will serve as the main venue once again. This year, a Competition section for the latest Asian films will be newly inaugurated, providing the new Best Picture Award (Grand Prix) selected by the OAFF international jury, along with the existing Audience Award. The total number of films to be screened will be between 30 to 50 (including collaborative projects), and the number of invited guests is expected to be between 40 to 50, from Japan and abroad. Osaka Asian Film Festival: COMPETITION section / SPECIAL SCREENINGS section / SPECIAL SELECTION

OAFF 2011 consists of the Competition section and the Special Screenings section. We will screen Asian films including some recent films, as yet unreleased in Japan, and hold Q&A sessions and talk events with various guests to promote cultural exchange.
Awards
Awards will be given to selected films from the Competition section. In addition to the existing Audience Award, OAFF 2011 will appoint an international jury (3 members), and present the Best Picture Award (Grand Prix), the Most Promising Talent Award and other prizes.

OSAKA CINEMA FESTIVAL 2011

Osaka Cinema Festival introduces excellent Japanese films, focusing on films deeply related to Osaka. The event also holds the award ceremony for the Best Picture and Individual from the Osaka Cinema Festival Best 10 which will be determined by moviegoers’ voting.

ASIAN MEETING OSAKA 2011

Asian Meeting Osaka 2011 invites up-and-coming Asian directors and introduces young Kansai directors, aiming to cultivate young talented filmmakers as well as to build the network of Asian independent films. The meeting provides filmmakers opportunities to showcase their films and interact with other artists, and holds symposiums and screenings of films including invited films from Japan and abroad.

SPECIAL SYMPOSIUM

CINE NOUVEAU (Kujo)
The Japanese film industry has been moving towards further globalization. OAFF 2010 will have a special symposium, inviting experts from the domestic and international film industries, including film directors and programmers.

In addition to other programs and events, OAFF will conduct Osaka Location Program in which we will invite guests from Asian film industries and guests involved in the selected films to contribute to promote Osaka as a future hub for film production of Asian films.
