“Love Off the Cuff” is the third in a trilogy of films following cosmetics salesgirl Cherie and advertising exec Jimmy, two middle-aged lovers who met over cigarettes after Hong Kong introduced an in-door smoking ban. Set after the couple lived in Shanghai in 2015’s “Love in the Buff”, they have returned to Hong Kong and continue their relationship while cohabiting in an apartment.
Neither immature Jimmy (36) nor chronically insecure Cherie (40) feels ready to tie the knot and it seems like Cherie fears Jimmy might stray from her. She believes men are unable to commit to relationships and her fears are put to the test when her philandering father drops in out of the blue with an extremely young and beautiful fiancee and they are joined by Jimmy’s childhood friend Flora. Will Cherie and Jimmy be able to stay together or has their relationship run its course?
Both genders are equally represented by sassy characters who deliver witty dialogue and intelligent obersavations on long-term relationships in this witty comedy.
