Synopsis

Raj is a self-righteous guy who comes from a traditional Hindu family which is part of why he is having problems in Rome. First of all, his younger sister Reena has disappeared in a foreign city he knows little about and is uncomfortable in as he frantically searches a maze of backstreets and squares crowded with women and men whose behaviour and perspectives on gender relations and sexuality challenge his old-fashioned views. He sees Reena in his dreams and he chases after a woman who looks like her through the streets in reality and as gets lost in his pursuit of her, he revisits memories of his behaviour towards her, his failure to protect her from the strict patriarchal rules of her father and family background, his betrayal of her and comes to understand why she has chosen to get lost in the ancient city of Rome.

A refreshingly unique Indian movie, it blurs the line between comedy, drama and feminist statement that won plaudits at screenings for its playful deconstruction of a woman's place in society.
