On the day of an important exam, a smart but rebellious teenager named Vivek commits a small and clunky crime as a mark of "protest" against the system but it goes awry and drags in the school's well-behaved head boy, Ashwin. The two end up playing truant from school and hit the streets of Mumbai where a seemingly unlikely friendship grows into something more romantic and fantastical as they learn to express themselves in a series of events that turn from the mundane to the magical with colourful characters, both human and animal, popping up. The film encompasses events from the past, present and future as the characters take a fantastical journey through Mumbai in a fairytale movie with a whimsical tone that defies conventions expected in Indian films to capture the many facets and cultural specifities of modern-day India.
