Synopsis

1992, Hong Kong. Chun Yin develops a crush on a perky box-office girl one evening, but he soon learns that “Wong Ka Yan” has quit her cinema job. Chun Yin goes on a quest to find every Wong Ka Yan in Hong Kong, aided by his best friend and a different girl named Wong Ka Yan who gets in touch as a prank but becomes enthralled by the lovesick young man’s resolve. The film looks at how people connected in the pre-social media age, moving in surprising directions as Chun Yin inadvertently facilitates relationships involving the various Wong Ka Yans he meets. By avoiding conventional types of narrative resolution, the film is a beautiful reminder of real human connection.
