Synopsis

Tsubaki Higurashi is nearly 30, works part time as a sign holder, and always covers her face with a medical mask. Nearby lives her estranged mother who comes to visit every so often, but Tsubaki is never home. Her boyfriend sits in the nude in front of his computer, wrapped up in his work, and she wonders she did the right thing being with him from the past, into the present, and possibly in the future. One day, a man pretending to be a professional entertainment scout approaches Tsubaki, and while she listens, thoughts of “Why me?” float around in her head, she gradually becomes interested. Each of her thoughts slip away in the streets of Osaka.

Main character Tsubaki and the people around may be considered as modern with their cold sense of distance, painting an offbeat image of the development of Osaka’s northern district, Umeda.
