It is summer and we are taken to an apartment in Tokyo’s Suginami Ward which will be overwhelmed by a number of people who claim to be the resident. First it is a woman who has just quit her job, then it is a woman about to start work as a hostess, and a student who is a flautist. Housewives, lovers, aspiring actors, and a young guy seeking work. As more people pile in and make themselves at home, it becomes clearer just who the residents actually are.
IA simple yet wonderfully played comedy of manners is just a cover for a strain of melancholy as quirky characters drawn from everyday life come together to reveal more about being residents.
