- Synopsis
On March 11, 2011, an elementary school in Ishinomaki, Miyagi Prefecture was severely damaged by the devastating Great East Japan Earthquake and resultant fearful tsunami. When it happened, what did people in schools know and do? Taking Kadowaki Elementary School in Ishinomaki as an example, this documentary features interviews with 37 people including students, teachers and parents, and examines what happened to them from when the earthquake occurred until the morning of March 12. Citizens in the disaster stricken area produced this documentary to pass down the memory of the earthquake to the next generation. Director Kenji Aoike has an experience of filming the years of the recovery in Kobe after the Great Hanshin Earthquake.
