Highschooler Thu is the joker in his school but the jokes stop and he gets serious about love when the alluring Viet An appears in class. She’s the new transfer student and Thu is head over heels in love with her. Unfortunately, the comedian can’t quite find the right words to ask her out on a date and Viet An, the more mature and intelligent of the two, is quite adept at playing his heartstrings for her own pleasure. Perhaps Thu’s hesitations stem from his memories of his childhood friend and first love. Perhaps, if he learns from the girl from yesterday, he can properly express his love to the girl of the present.
“The Girl from Yesterday” is an adaptation of Nguyen Nhat Anh’s popular 1990 novel of the same name and features the fun and excesses of teenage love and the sweetness of deep childlike affection.
