Tusunmemet ABLEZ - Synopsis
Emetjan MEMET returns to OAFF following the 2020 screening of “Alikis” and he brings another dry comedy that is reminiscent of the works of Aki Kurasmaki with more stilted acting seen in long takes and static framing. This time, instead of a mystery, it’s a love story… Sort of.
When Ekide’s (Ezize SHUHERAT) mother finds an anonymous love letter, the teenage girl is forced to tell her admirer Merdan (Ehsan IMAM) to quit visiting her. However, Merdan wasn’t the author of the letter and he suspects that it was the work of a top student in their class. Cue amorous male marking out his territory, as Merdan tries to act the big man and send his rival a warning. Meanwhile, Ekide’s parents are on the verge of divorce as the mother is tired of the father’s drunken behaviour. Perhaps the kids should look at the parent’s problems to put their romance in perspective...
