In 1914, a young Japanese man journeys to the Korean Peninsula, then under Japanese rule. Takumi Asakawa, a forestry expert who befriends living creatures and learns from nature, fights against injustice and persecution. The film depicts Asakawa's love and respect for suffering Korean locals and his determination to protect traditional Korean crafts such as Hakuji (white porcelain), as well as showing his true friendship in Korea. Starring talented Japanese and Korean actors Hisashi Yoshizawa ("The Lone Scalpel") and Bae Soo-Bin (TV dramas "Jumong" and "Dong Yi"), "TAKUMI: The Man Beyond Borders" is an ambitious new work, made with Korean crew, from experienced socially-conscious director Banmei Takahashi.
