Synopsis

When we meet musician Max and his Muslim filmmaker girlfriend Min, it’s not at their happiest time. They are breaking up and debating who will keep their beloved cat, Meowzaki - named after their favourite filmmaker MIYAZAKI Hayao – all while Max is getting over his mother’s death. But it isn’t just Max who has heartache as his conservative businessman father harbours regrets over his marriage and is concerned about his son while Max’s singer-songwriter grandfather has entered a retirement home. Max may be the starting point but we watch as three generations of men from a Hindu family and the women in their lives develop friendships, love and understanding that bridge cultural, religious, and generational gaps, all with the help of cats and Studio Ghibli in this sweet rom-com with musical interludes.
