A newly married woman, Shiori, lives a happy humble life, but suddenly loses her husband in a workplace accident. She can't accept an apology from a young factory worker, Takumi, who caused the accident. As she sees Takumi working very hard at the factory struggling with recession and harmful rumors after the earthquake, however, she gradually opens her heart to him…
Set in Hitachi city in Ibaraki Prefecture after the Great East Japan Earthquake, "Cold Bloom" depicts the subtle emotions between the victim's wife and the man who accidentally killed him, and the difficulty in forgiving, with a backdrop of cherry blossoms in full bloom.
