Synopsis

Houston, Texas, the new home of Mrs. Hoa, a middle-aged Vietnamese woman who recently moved to America to live with her only daughter, Ha. A feisty woman back in Vietnam, Mrs. Hoa is struggling to fit in with Ha who has worked hard to establish herself in the States and struggles to make time for her mother. Things come to a head when lonely Mrs. Hoa is preparing for her late husband's death anniversary and bumps into a handsome younger man at a local Asian supermarket. Mrs. Hoa soon begins daydreaming of a supermarket love affair…

“Supermarket Affairs” wraps up themes of the immigrant experience and the interaction between different generations into a bittersweet dramedy that plays on the real-life Lynda Trang Dai “Supermarket Love Affair”, a hit in the Vietnamese-American community which is probably ripe for discovery for the rest of the world.
