Jun lives a laidback life relying on casual work from his mother’s marketplace clothing stall in between loafing around with his girlfriend Ann. The most complicated thing he has to worry about is doing a stint of national service in the army but everything goes out of whack when his girlfriend suspects she is pregnant. Having grown up without a father and suddenly faced with the prospect of becoming one, Jun scrambles to make sense of it all.
Daddy-To-Be is PAN Ke-yin’s second short film following “My Sister” (OAFF 2022) and it played at the Kaohsiung Film Festival 2022. Sprinkled with chucklesome and wince-inducing comedy, it has a strong sense of family and love running through it to make it a delightful film.
