Synopsis

At a remote house in the dead of winter, a highly-skilled gaffer named Miho works diligently to light up the sets of a horror movie. This is her first job following gender reassignment surgery and she faces each test with dedication but the toughest challenge proves to be dealing with some of the crew who don’t hide their discrimination. Just as Miho’s sense of isolation meets her struggle to adapt to her identity and she begins to break, an unexpected friendship with a child actress eases the tension.

“Transit” skilfully addresses transgenderism and prejudice through its setting where collective actions are the norm. Thoughtless comments and cold looks accentuate a poisonous sense of prejudice but the sight of a child’s innocent and accepting nature provides a heart-warming remedy.
